U.S. equities were washed in red at the closing bell Wednesday as the energy sector shed nearly 4% in the session, while materials and financials also led the way lower. At 4:00 p.m. ET, according to preliminary calculations, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 191 points, or 1.1%, falling to 17197. The S&P 500 shed 27 points, or 1.33% to 2002, while the Nasdaq fell 43 points, 0.93% to 43.51. All 10 S&P 500 sectors were in the red.
